Are You In LOVE or LUST? PDF Print E-mail

Are you in Love or Lust?

Can you distinguish Love from Lust in a relationship?

Are you in LOVE or LUST?

Many times we say to our partner “I Love You” without thinking twice about the word itself. But why do you feel you are in love? Is it because of the way they make your heart throb whenever they are near? Is it their eyes that makes you want to melt like butter whenever you look into them?

I asked the question to several, what is the difference between love and lust. It didn’t surprise me at all when the room became silent as everyone looked around thinking to themselves hoping I wouldn’t call on them to answer. And yet there was one brave soul that said “It was hard to tell the difference unless you know God. It will be easily confused on which one a person feels in their relationship for the reasoning that we confuse lust for love in our minds. Due to the feelings we have at that particular moment and time.”

Love is an emotion that one feels for another deeply; it’s an attachment and affection towards a particular person. Love is neither selfish nor conceited, It’s the will to sacrifice if need be. Ensuring the one you are committed to is satisfied not just physically, but spiritually and mentally as well. If you know God then you know love is of God and God is love. If you do not know God it can be hard to understand the extent and in-depth of where the right love can and will take you and your partner. Love is unconditional and contributes to patients, understanding, forgiveness and sacrifices. (Are you ready to love?)

Lust is just the opposite of love but one can mistake their lust for love if not careful. Lust is selfish and conceited and can make one only care about their needs being meant both emotionally and physically only. At times we lust and want the things we know we can’t have because of the excitement. Lust will allow one to use someone only for what they have or could do for them that particular moment and time. Rather it’s on a sexual level, financial or you’re just in the moment because of one’s appearance, career, or physical possessions. i.e. (Cars, homes and etc).

So I ask do you feel you’re in love or lust?
