The World and the Church

Ephesians 2:2-3 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: 3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

Why is it that so many of the issues that the secular world is suffering, the church is suffering as well? The only difference is it seems that in secular families it is sometimes exposed. But in so-called Christian homes it is covered up. 

For example Mary Winkler who killed her husband in March of 2006. Mary stated that her husband physically and emotionally even sexually abused her. She stated that she killed him because she was afraid he would begin to abuse her daughters.  They were married for almost 10 years and in all that time no one in the church noticed that the minister of The Most High Jesus Christ is abusing his wife? Minister: togive service, care, or aid; attend, as to wants or necessities. What kind of service was this man giving to God and to his members if no one is discerning enough to see this type of abuse? Then there’s the “man” who murdered his wife, and raped his step daughter repeatedly over the course of 4 years. I called him a man because I refuse to call him a preacher. The question is who failed these people? Was it their parents who may have physically abused them, or maybe the man that may have abused this man’s mother sexually, or even him? Preacher: a person whose occupation or function it is to preach the gospel.

I ask, what is missing here? Are we not praying? How many Churches are actually operating in the nine gifts of the spirit? These gifts are named. There is Wisdom, Knowledge, Faith, Healing; Working of Miracles, Prophesy, Discerning of Spirits, Divers kinds of Tongues and finally The Interpretation of Tongues. The Church is supposed to be a place of healing, love and security. Ok, so can I stop beating up on the so-called Christians? Lord, I hope so! God is love. He is just and faithful to forgive. Should they have asked, both of these men were candidates for forgiveness and grace. We, The Christians of this world need to take back our churches! Where are the Praying Mothers? Where are the true men and women of God who stood for holiness? Prayer changes things! All it takes is one man with a purpose and a vision; just ask Jesus he’ll tell you! People of God, 2 Chronicles 7:14 says:
“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”

Just one praying Daniel, just one Esther, just one young David is all it takes!!! Joshua 23:9-11 says, “For the LORD hath driven out from before you great nations and strong: but as for you, no man hath been able to stand before you unto this day. One man of you shall chase a thousand: for the LORD your God, he it is that fighteth for you, as he hath promised you. Take good heed therefore unto yourselves, that ye love the LORD your God. That’s it people! That’s the secret! I pray that we take heed of this men and women of God; I pray we give credence to these words. There are so many hurting people right in the church with us. Let’s not be so wrapped up in our own lives that we miss the things that we are supposed to discern in the Spirit. Let’s stop being so selfish with our prayers and start praying for fellow man. My Prayer for you my Brothers and Sisters in the Lord is that You will prosper spiritually emotionally and then physically.
