Tell us a little bit about yourself Lakeba: "I am an author, radio and television personality with a strong passion to reach and teach the nation concerning God's healing power.
When were you diagnosed with breast cancer? What what age?
Home relaxing with my family. At the age of 33
How long have your been cancer free? 7yrs and 5 months
Tell us how did you cope when you first found out you had breast cancer? Were you saved back then? I coped rather well. I was a Minister prior to my diagnosis, so I knew and believed in the Word of God and trusted that HIS Word would work in my life.
Did you ever blame God for you getting breast cancer? Absolutely not
Tell us about your experience going through the chemotheraphy phase, doctors visits, etc.
Chemotherapy and cancer treatment was rough. I endured 4 rounds of chemotherapy and 16 sessions of Radiation Therapy. After the second round of Chemotherapy, I lost all of my hair and I begin to experience weakness. So, my sister or my mother would go along with me to the doctors. It was a hard battle. But, I learned how to rest in the Lord and trust God even the more.
Living Day By Day Ministries is a ministry that focus on healing and restoration. I am passionate about seeing all people, not just women, restored, healed and set free.
Did you get much support from family & friends during your breast cancer stage?
My family was very supportive during and after cancer treatment. My sisters and parents were by my side every step of the way.
Life is great as a Mother. I love my two children dearly. They are a blessing to my life. I am grateful for the gifts(my children) that God has given unto me.
Are you planning on taking your ministry to another level? Have you done any speaching engagements or lectures? Yes. It is my desire to take God's ministry in me to the nations. God has given me the opportunity to share HIS word via speaking engagements, motivational speaking as well as sharing my personal testimony.
What suggestions would you give to young teenage girls, and women about the prevention and early detection of breast cancer? Self examination is the BEST prevention. Be sure to know the changes that your body experience so you will know what is normal and what is abnormal.
There are many women who cannot afford health care. Any advice for women who cannot afford health insurance to get a mammogram? Any options available? American Breast Cancer Foundation(ABCF) 877 539 2543
Has your relationship with God become more intimate since your breast cancer scare? Definitely. My worship and praise is at another/higher/more intimate level.
What steps have you taken to take better care of your body since being free from breast cancer? Fasting/Detox
Is there anything that you would like for the Proverbs Life readers to know? Trust God in all things, no matter what. God is able to do ALL things but fail. Keep trusting, keep believing and keep expecting. God will NOT let you down.
