Getting Back On Track...Interview With Gospel Soca Artist: Jadee

I had the opportunity to interview Trinidad's gospel soca artist: Jadee Sellier. Gospel soca and reggae is gaining popularity as many give their lives to Christ and seek a new alternative to Christian music. Jadee understands the value of his relationship with Jesus Christ and with his fans. With Jadee's latest gospel soca album entitled: "Get Back On Track", we see how he has transitioned into a stronger person. Let's read more about Jadee and his music.

PLM: How long have you been saved and what led you to Christ?

Jadee: "But when i think of my Self, i think that i am a Very Lucky Man and Blessed Man, First to Know Who God is and Christ Jesus as my Savior and then to have a Strong Woman who Loves the Lord and is my Wife. I am Also Blessed to have a Healthy beautiful Daughter and parents who loves me.
I am a Family Man that God gave a Gift to Spake the World through song and Music Which i Choose to Encourage and Influence to the Kingdom of God in Jesus Name.
I have a Microphone in My Hand, Music or not, if you Choice to Listen, you will hear Kingdom Words."

PLM: Tell us a little bit about yourself:

Jadee: "I have Been Saved 9 years now Praise God. To make a long story short, I was lead to Christ when i found out i was a sinner. When i found out that its not Just Murders or whatever need to repent but every one who does not know Jesus Need to be saved. God used People and Circumstances in my life to help me see that."

PLM:Tell us about your "Baptize" song from your "Altar Call" album. What inspired you to write that song? You have named some MAJOR recording artists on that song. Did it spark some controversy?

Jadee: "Baptized was Inspired by my life. When i found out this new Love and Information about Jesus and His Love for us, i wrote a song about all the other artist i knew personally in the secular and declare Salvation over their lives. There are two versions to that song tho. One with Only Soca Artist from my Country Trinidad and Tobago and one with international artist, but the version that made the Album is was the one with artist from all over the world. Their was not much Controversy with that song, only some djs in Brooklyn miss understood the song, thinking i was Dissing the artist by calling their names, but as i said in many interviews that song is liken unto a pray. Cause that's what it really is, my pray to all to come to Christ."

PLM: Your latest album "Get Back On Track" seems personal. I have listened to a few snippets on YouTube and GospelReggae.com. Was there a lot of warfare going on in your life at the time? What inspired the hit song "I Press"?

Jadee: "Yes Very Personal... The Theme of the Album is my Testimony. The song Called Keep On Pressing is an encouragement to me first and then other people. This Album is to let people know who has made mistakes or turned away from God or who is not living their life correct, to get back on track, Jesus is coming soon. I my self have made mistakes in my walk in Christ and have struggled to live right but i thank God for second chances and restoration that i might help some one else come out of their down fall. Every Word in the Songs " Keep On Pressing " Mighty Men Of God, " I am Somebody" and others are true words, and i am a Miracle that i am alive in Christ Jesus. " I PRESS !!! " is not the name of the song, its my new Motto that i live by taken from Philippians 3 : 14."

PLM: Do you think more secular artists will give their lives to Christ as God shifts Hollywood?

Jadee: "Yes I do Believe So. They will come to the Lord, God has a Plan."

PLM: Where are you from orginally?

Jadee: "I am from Arima, Trinidad, West Indies"

PLM: How is life on the road when you travel? Does your wife and daughter travel with you?

Jadee: "My Wife Giselle, Travels with me as Much as she can., She is my Manager So if a Promoter can't afford brig my wife, They have to bring my manager (laughs)
But sometimes i have no choice but to travel alone and i don't like it. Traveling alone is not wise, trust me, i know. Wolves are everywhere, even in the church."

PLM: How are things going with you and your entourage "Altar Call"? What are your latest projects?

Jadee: "God is Rebuilding the Altar. Altar Call is Our Band, we have some new members, Structure of the band, format in meetings ect... God is revisiting the band to straighten its members.
Allot of chastening from the Lord going on (laughs)...But God is Good."

PLM: Do you feel that gospel/Christian reggae is becoming more popular?

Jadee: "Yes We are...That's why we have to life even MORE Holy and Practice what we preach........I PRESS !!! The Devils Plan i believe is to Allow us to get Very very huge and popular and then when we get their IF their is sin in our lives........expose us and make us look like crazy people who can't live by what we say. But grater is He that is in me, Than he that is in the World, Real talk ."

PLM: What are your plans for the next few years? Ever thought about Christian films or acting? You certainly have to personality for it.

Jadee: "I would love to do a Christian film or act once its the will of the Lord. Yehhh I could act like a Christian " Rocky " who fights sin (laughs) got knocked down by sin but gets back up and kicks sin butt with the Word of God (laughs).... that is corny i know right ? No movies or films for me right now. Right now Giselle and I are getting ready to go to New York,Canada to have My Album Launch and Promote the Album. For the Next few Years, I plan to do Bible School, Video and Film School, Open another business, Tour the World, record more Music, be the best example/farther i could be to my daughter, Love my Wife more and more every day,become the Perfect Husband [still working on that] and Live my life Holy and server The Lord like if the Rapture was in the next hour........ I PRESS !!!"
