Minister Slugger - George Strickland

Many have asked how did the name Slugger come about. George Stricklin Jr. was given the name Slugger by his parents from the day he was birthed. During his senior year of high school, Slugger found a passion to produce music and began his career as a producer in 1996. After producing music for many artists the name Slugger began to circulate on the local rap scene, and many came calling for production. In 2001 Slugger connected with Lil Flip and produced a track that landed on Lil Flip's first platinum album "The Underground Legend." Slugger's production credits also includes production on DJ Screw's soundtrack "Soldiers United 4 Cash." He produced two of the hottest songs on the soundrack "Screw Is So Real" and "On Tha Southside".

Everything seemed to be looking up for Slugger's production career, but things started coming to a halt. After his career as a producer started to spiral down, Slugger realized that there was a missing piece to the puzzle of his life and career. He then relealized that he was not going to prosper, because he was running from GOD's call for him to preach. On November 9, 2003 Slugger surrendered to the call of GOD, and is now known as MINISTER SLUGGER. He now spreads a message of hope, and purpose through rap over banging beats. GOD has given Minister Slugger a heart for the streets, and a passion to "Heal The Hood."
Minister Slugger believes that the lost can be reached, when you minister to them on a level they can understand and feel. He strongly believes that GOD is doing a new thing, in this new generation. You can feel that he is passionate about his calling, through his music and preaching. He is a "Slugger" for the Lord. Coming bodly into satan's territory winning souls for GOD.
